A deeper spring has made the task of getting Giga Kick fit for autumn easier according to the champion galloper's trainer Clayton Douglas.

The five-year-old dual Group 1 winner most recently raced without luck in the Champions Sprint and is back in work at Douglas' Mornington base.

"He's really good, he's back in the stable just poking along," Douglas said.

"He ended up having a nice-enough break after the spring so we're just building his fitness, he hasn't done any serious work as such yet.

"He seems to have come in feeling really well, he's not big and fat, last time he came in with a lot of condition on him and it took a while to get at him........
