Former French stayer Harmysian hasn’t been the easiest of horses to train but the stable looks to have worked him out with an impressive win in the BM70 over 1800m at Sandown.
Jake Noonan partnered the son of Lope De Vega to win the event carrying 61k.5kg and took his earnings to over $163,000.
Harmysian, an OTI purchase, arrived in Australia as a proven stayer,
having won up to 3000m in France. After taking a while to acclimatise and always “woolly” in the coat, Harmysian was found to be allergic to wide range of things including his sheep friends and oats. Since moving from the farm to the on-course Mornington stable, and a change of diet, the gelding has been thriving.
“We’ve always had a nice opinion of the horse. We’ve changed some things around and hopefully we start to see the best of him. He’ll take a lot of confidence from the win” said Douglas.
Congratulations to OTI Racing and connections with their promising stayer.
